The resistor is a versatile component!
We used the aluminum housed resistors quite often as heaters in various lab applications, bolted onto an aluminum plate, or clamped onto a metal tube, or a water jacket.
Advantages over heater mats were you could distribute several with ease around odd shaped areas.
The water cooled versions 252-3088 would also be good for circulating water heating systems.

This article made me search around the range available and the https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/panel-mount-fixed-resistors/1852285/ is interesting and could provide opportunities for other uses.

Thanks for your reply, Boss. As a connector person, I have spent nearly 30 years avoiding the world of passives, so I was fascinated and amazed when I started talking to my friends in the industry about resistors. Glad you liked the article. :-)
