Resistors - What Are They Good For?

Connector Geek
Connector Geek is Dave in real life. With 29 years in the industry, Dave still likes talking about connectors almost as much as being a Dad to his two kids. He still loves Lego too...

The resistor is a versatile component!
We used the aluminum housed resistors quite often as heaters in various lab applications, bolted onto an aluminum plate, or clamped onto a metal tube, or a water jacket.
Advantages over heater mats were you could distribute several with ease around odd shaped areas.
The water cooled versions 252-3088 would also be good for circulating water heating systems.

This article made me search around the range available and the is interesting and could provide opportunities for other uses.

Thanks for your reply, Boss. As a connector person, I have spent nearly 30 years avoiding the world of passives, so I was fascinated and amazed when I started talking to my friends in the industry about resistors. Glad you liked the article. :-)
