Vishay HOTcaps - ultra high-temperature capacitors

As the automotive and aerospace industries continue to evolve more powerful systems and technologies to drive us further, faster, so our component requirements change in order to withstand increasingly extreme operating conditions and environments.

Vishay has addressed the trend towards higher operating temperatures in automotive electronic components with the introduction of its

Vishay HOTcapNew HOTcaps™ series of leaded multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) which are redefining standards in terms of performance and reliability with an unmatched operating temperature range from -55°C up to +175°C

The series is compliant with the AEC-Q200 global standard for stress resistance that passive electronic components must meet to be deemed suitable for use in automotive applications.

Designed for use in the automotive industry’s most demanding spaces, including engine, brake systems and transmission, ideal uses for HOTcaps™ include turbo chargers, throttle valves and EMI filtering in exhaust gas.

In addition to compliance with the AEC-Q200 standard, HOTcaps™ are also RoHS compliant and feature a flame retardant epoxy resin coating in accordance with UL 94 V-0.

HOTcaps™ are constructed from 100% tinned copper-clad steel. Straight or crimped leads are available with spacing of 2.5 mm and 5 mm, while lead wires measure 0.5 mm or 0.6 mm. Vishay HOTcaps™ are suitable for a wide operating temperature range from -55°C to +175°C which is the widest range currently available.

This progressive new range from Vishay addresses the increasing need for capacitors that can withstand very high operating temperatures, not only in automotive applications, but also in the aerospace arena – particularly jet engines – and even in down-hole drilling where temperatures can quickly soar.
