Souriau’s new UTL Hybrid Power and Signal connector is the perfect solution for LED lighting applications that require full duplex DMX in a harsh environment.
DMX is a protocol used where lighting intensity, color and switching is completed via a twisted pair, and with full duplex, is capable of receiving feed-back on the status of the equipment in the field over the additional twisted pair.
The UTL connector is a high quality push to lock and press lever to release via its stainless steel latch. The UTL series is UL 1977 & IEC 61 984 qualified, including:
- UL201 Safety standard of industrial equipment
- UL 1995 Heating and cooling equipment
- UL 2238 Cable assemblies and fittings for industrial control and signal distribution
- IEC 60601 Medical equipment
- IEC 61010 Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use

The UTL is sealed to IP68/69K, which makes it the perfect choice for LED lighting applications in areas that are exposed to the harshest water spray and immersion conditions. The UV resistance has also been tested to five years exposure with no degradation of color or performance.
With the stainless steel locking mechanism, the connector is a high performing secure connection solution that installs with one snap, stays secure, and is safely and quickly released when desired.
The connector is compatible with RS-485 (2 twisted pairs + braid), has a 120 ohm terminating resistor, first make/last break and a finger touch proof design for safety.
The unique keyhole design also allows for blind mating, always insuring a reliable connection, even in the dark. The unique design has First Mate Last Break on the ground pin for reliable grounding.
