Wow, what an excellent write-up! I look forward to following your progress. Nice to see a Mars rover design that doesn't feature a 6-wheeled rocker-bogie mobility system! I'm sure you know that ESA rover Rosalind Franklin going to Mars this year features both wheels and a walking mechanism to get it out of trouble in soft sand:
