How To Setup for Battery Temperature Profiling While Charging and Discharging

Need to know how to set up battery temperature profiling efficiently? Keysight's application note (link below) explains how.

Charge and discharge currents increase the temperature of batteries and temperature directly affects the lifespan and storage capacity of batteries. Batteries tend to be efficient and provide a normal lifespan at room temperatures. It is well known that the performance, life, and abuse tolerance of Lithium-ion (Li-ion) cells and packs are critically dependent on the ambient temperatures; hence, an efficient battery thermal management system is an integral part of advanced EV batteries. The recent demand for fast charging capability of EV batteries (as high as 150 kW) requires a high-performance thermal management system to optimise charging performance. Therefore, battery temperature profiling is an integral part of a high-performance battery solution.

In the app note available here: Battery Temperature Profiling while Charging and Discharging,  we look at a typical hardware setup used to measure temperatures of Li-ion battery during charging and discharging.  We will also demonstrate an efficient data-logging solution using BenchVue.
