How do I retain a sketch in 3D mode?

Available in the constraint-based sketching mode, the Retain Sketch option ensures the sketch is not consumed by 3D geometry when sketching is complete.

  • Sketch objects added after retaining the sketch are also retained.
  • The sketch and sketch objects remain in the tree until you choose to delete them. To delete the sketch/sketch objects, select them in the tree and select Delete from the context menu.

After retaining the sketch, you can select the Use for 3D option to create regular curves and surfaces for closed sketch regions. The original sketch is retained for reuse even after you select Use for 3D. Watch this video for more details:
