This tutorial requires:
DesignSpark Mechanical V6.0To copy for a variation, use the MOVE tool. Triple click to select body directly in graphics area or select in Structure Browser. Hold down CTRL and drag the mouse in any direction.
Ctrl key needs holding down only at drag start. Drag to position or release mouse upon first movement, enter a value.
The result is 2 bodies that are independent of each other. Below is shown a Body copy that is altered into a similar shape. Components may have multiple Bodies. Moving a Component affects all 'owned' by it.
Retaining copy changes using a component
To copy the body and maintain the copy despite any shape changes to either body, the body must moved into a 'Component'.
Persistent duplicates
Copying a Component will produce a persistent duplicate.
Removing duplication persistency
To remove Body duplication persistency, select the Component, right click ( RMB) on it, select Source, Make Independent.
