Intelligent LED Pixels are a cost-effective and creative way to play with lighting design. Commonly used for DYI projects to create some cool effects in applications like gaming peripherals, ambient TV backlighting, under-counter lighting, and any other general colour accent lighting. Some even work them into clothes or wearable accessories.
Intelligent LED pixels are designed around the industry standard SK6812 LED driver IC. Available in RGB or RGBW options, each LED has one of these tiny driver ICs built in. So, with one point of control, you can drive any entire module with interchangeable LED sequences with no complicated wiring required. Each LED can be set to any 8-bit RGB combination to achieve 24-bit colour depth.
The IC control circuit consists of signal shaping amplification, built-in constant current source, and a high precision RC oscillator. The data protocol being used is the unipolar NRZ communication mode, where the 24-bit data is transmitted from the controller to DIN of the first LED, after an internal data latch, the remaining data is passed through the internal amplification circuit and sent out of the DO port to the remaining pixels. Using ‘automatic shaping forwarding technology’ means the number of cascaded LEDs is only limited by the signal transmission speed.
Standard RGB LEDs need a three-pin connector to control each colour, and all LEDs must remain either on or off. However, using LED pixel products means that each LED pixel is individually addressable and within a module are controllable via a single pin. With one pin controlling all, programming sequences and changing LED colours is not only possible but simplified.
ILS Intelligent LED Pixels are available as, raw LEDs, coins, flexible strips, flexible tiles, flexible neon tubes, rigid tiles, or rigid strips. Using a LED pixel controller, a multitude of lighting effects are possible. The ILP remote controller is also available for seamless sequence programming with the Intelligent LED Pixel range. An external power supply is required to power the controller and LEDs. The controller comes pre-paired with its remote control, and communications are over low power RF.
