As the maker movement continues to grow it is with great delight that we announce the Guild of Makers launch.
This event is happening on 16th March at the Autodesk Technology Centre, Small Heath Business Park, Talbot Way, Birmingham, B10 0HJ
The Guild of Makers is a professional membership organisation set-up by Dr Lucy Rogers, to encourage and support collaboration between like-minded individuals.
In true maker spirit, it can be summed up perfectly by Lucy, who upon trying and without luck to find a professional maker organisation to join, decided to found the Guild of Makers herself.
The launch event will be a celebration of the maker movement, and as many makers are transforming from hobbyists to professional the time is right for the Guild of Makers to flourish.
Guest speakers include:
- Andy Stanford-Clark, CTO UK and Ireland, IBM,
- Pete Wood, Head Technology Evangelist, DesignSpark, RS Components
- Rebecca Steiner, School of Jewellery, Birmingham City University
The aim of the Guild is to:
- Promote and celebrate excellence in Makers to industry and the public
- Bring together skilled Makers who:
- share ideas
- share values
- share ideals
- are willing to help others by being open, supportive, positive and constructive at all time
- are willing to learn from others
DesignSpark would love to hear from anyone attending the launch event, you can do this by posting a comment below.
Also, if you manage to speak with Pete Wood, be sure to ask him for the 'Pete and greet' badge code to add to your DesignSpark profile.
