These LoRa® evaluation kits from Microchip come packed full of everything you will need to create your own low power LoRaWAN™ network, including a LoRaWAN™ gateway, two LoRaWAN™ sensor nodes and local LoRaWAN™ server application.
LoRa® technology was originally developed by Semtech; it is now driven by the LoRa® Alliance which aims to provide an open, global standard for IoT connectivity. With its long range LoRa® technology is ideal for low power, wireless IoT applications, for example, sensor data.
LoRa® boasts bi-directional communication – ideal for applications needing real-time data acknowledgement – over distances of up to around 5km in urban environments and 15km in rural areas.

With built-in certification Microchip’s kits enable designers to develop for IoT more quickly and easily than ever before. Two versions of the kit are available, 868MHz for Europe (DV164140-1) and 915MHz for North America (DV164140-2). Respectively the kits meet certification requirements for the R&TTE Directive in Europe or the FCC in North America. Having this certification already in place significantly reduces time to market for developers and designers.
In addition, LoRa® technology utilises a spread-spectrum modulation which makes it highly resilient to inference in a noisy bandwidth environment.
