DSPCB - Settings required if switching between major release versions.

How to check or change the configuration of DSPCB (or DSPCB with an Engineer subscription) should you switch between installed versions.

First, this should rarely be necessary as the latest release will open all previous version design files allowing you to continue your design process. The latest installed version will set all paths at installation time.

The following details are for any user who finds a requirement to use a previous version or wishes to check their paths and settings are correct.

Here we illustrate for DSPCB Explorer, the situation or resetting and checking the settings for use with the version (V9.0). For DSPCB with an Engineer subscription, this is under Settings - Folders.

On launch go to <Settings> on the menubar and select <Preferences>

A new multitab window opens, select the <General> tab and then update the path to the Tech Files using either the <Default> or <Browse> buttons to set the path to the folder you selected on installation.  Click <Apply> and <OK>

Below show an existing path of V10.0 highlighted which is changed to V11.0.

This is the main setting complete and allows the version to be used with the correct files.

Additional Checks.

From the Library Manager select the <Folders> Tab. Here you need to select the required libraries. The libraries for the specific version shown in yellow should be selected and the <Folder Enable> button checked. These will all be enabled for the latest version.

Those for older versions should be selected and the "Folder Enabled" check box un-checked or you may delete the selected library from the list with the <Delete> button.

NOTE. If you leave the older versions enabled and subsequently edit the component or symbols in this later version, those components will no longer be usable in the earlier version.

Your previous version "User Library" may also be selected as required. If enabled you can continue working with your custom components and continue to build your library, but as per the 'note' above the components will not be usable by earlier versions.
