YouTube is another one of those websites that you either have a lot to do with, or you don’t. I’m one of those who enjoys a frequent visit, subscribing to numerous channels that cater to my interests and hobbies and I often find myself distracted by the sheer volume of other interesting content that languishes within. Truth be told there is also a mountain of garbage on there, but with some patience, it’s a great source of info and ideas. For the makers out there, inspiration is bountiful.
I took the opportunity to see how many projects everyone’s favourite computer, the Raspberry Pi, has gathered over the years since its release…The answer was, not surprisingly was rather a lot, my search produced around 992,000 results! Searching just for the Raspberry Pi itself found 1,480,000 entries, holy smokes! There is no mistaking the popularity of this powerful computer. As winter is rolling in, at least for those of us in the northern hemisphere, I thought it would be a good idea to round-up a few of the easier to follow projects on YouTube and place them within easy reach.
Whet your appetite on these if you like, or have a jolly good search on YouTube yourself, there’s certainly going to be some gems hidden amongst all the rough.
Raspberry Pi smart mirror
If looking at your reflection isn’t enough, this swanky mirror will tell you the weather, the time and the latest news headlines. Rather fancy I thought.
Home automation with Pi
If you like home automation, oddly enough I don’t and prefer moving around my house, but if unlike me you do! Then this fab project will let you interface with a whole host of ‘Smart Home’ products.
Raspberry Pi weather
Grab your coat and get your hat, leave your Raspberry Pi on the doorstep and just direct your feet to the Pi Sense hat side of the street. Appalling take on the Sunny Side of the Street song aside, this rapid little project turns your Raspberry Pi into a weather station.
Raspberry Pi home network music system
If like me your music collection resides on a plethora of CD’s then this handy little project could help you get your music collection in order in no time. No more trying to find your Shakin Stevens CD that’s ended up in the wrong case.
DIY Raspberry Pi + Arduino Laptop
Most of you are familiar with the pi-Top laptop that is designed around a Raspberry Pi, well if you like to get a bit more hands-on, fit a touchpad and include an Arduino in there as well, this is the project for you.
