Why I'm giving up n DSM

Buk5

Latest, greatest version (with almost entirely useless "nu feetures").

Draw a circle (50mm for simplicity.)x4REL76F0GwIOxjtirucCA.png

Move/copy that circle twice above and below:

Now Move/copy the central one at an angle of 30° (NNW)

Now rotate that back to the grid, and then Move/copy it down 50mm.

Hang on. What's happened here. One of the circles has disappeared? Expand the Curves section in the tree; Its still there somewhere:

By a process of elimination, discover that it has moved to overlay the first circle. (wtf).

So, try to move it back where I put it. And as I drag it,other circles start changing size at the same time. Cannot show this, it changes from attempt to attempt.

My best guess is that this is the new constraints stuff trying to maintain relationships; but AFAIK I haven't enabled it, and I have not explicitly define any constraints.

They keep adding new (and from my perspective almost unusable) features; but all the old bugs are still there; and the new features have introduced a bunch of new ones.

I've gone from v2.something to v5, because it will no longer authorize my v2 copy. And whilst v5 is (currently) allowing me to run it, it seems to take longer and longer each time to do so.

And how long before they (whomever 'they' are) decide that v5 shall no longer work. What of all my stuff then? All locked up in a proprietary format for a product that is "free" only as long as they decide I can continue to use it and that requires substantial outlay (that I cannot afford) to unlock.

Better I bite the bullet and learn to use of of the (far inferior in many ways) OSS alternatives, no matter how painful that might be, than continue to fight to work around the bugs, and inanities of a product that will forever lock me into decisions taken by faceless people without regard to their effects on my stuff.
