The Infineon technologies XMC4800 Relax EtherCAT evaluation kit is the industry’s first microcontroller with integrated EtherCAT node on an ARM® Cortex®-M processor with on-chip flash and analog/mixed signal capabilities. You can, for example, run an embedded web server and store your HTML web pages on a microSD card, as well as controlling the XMC4800 MCU on your PC via the web browser.
Requiring no additional components to function, such as dedicated EtherCAT ASIC, external memory, or a quartz clock generator to start up the EtherCAT slave controller, everything you need to get going is provided. This helps designers with benefits in the bill of material costs and PCB design space saving.
The XMC4800 Relax EtherCAT is the complete development kit for EtherCAT devices and the powerful XMC4800 makes this board an ideal choice for development engineers of EtherCAT slaves, such as servo drives and intelligent I/O devices. Combining EtherCAT communications and actuator sensor control in one microcontroller, and with the system performance, memory and ability to run EtherCAT and up to two industrial drives in parallel.
This practical kit allows you to quickly create compact designs, as an integrated PLL supplies the IP core with the necessary 25-MHz clock. For software development, when using the XMC4800 Relax EtherCAT Kit, Infineon offers the DAVE™ development environment with lots of libraries for low-level drives and lots of apps free of charge, which is available to download from Infineon.
