Interactive gear check

Hi guys,

I wish to check if a gear and a pinion that I scanned mesh properly.  I have a stl file for the gear and the pinion and wish to place them at the appropriate distance and then rotate the pinion.  Whilst the pinion is rotating the pinion tooth profile boundry should push the gear along so that I can see the the glide path.

Any ideas on how to achieve this?
