How do I download / import models from the online library?

This tutorial requires:

DesignSpark Mechanical V6.0

The online library refers to the TraceParts integration in DesignSpark Mechanical. Click on this icon to open the TraceParts catalogue, you will be signed-in automatically.

Search for a part using a keyword to describe it (eg. PoE module, RJ45 connector, etc.), or the manufacturer part number.

Click on the search result and you will be taken to a product page as below. Here, you can:

  • Preview the 3D model
  • Insert into an open project
  • Download for later use.

If you choose to insert directly into an open project, the ‘TraceParts EasyDesign’ applet will need to be installed. Accept the on-screen prompt to allow installation.

If this applet doesn’t download automatically, you can install it from here: https://apps.traceparts.com/easydesign/Setup.exe

Note: Parts can only be downloaded in the RSDOC format using this integrated library.

If you're looking for other file formats, look for the product on rs-online.com or alternatively on the TraceParts online website (you will need to register a TraceParts account first).
