Design Rule Check

HJSDSpark

First, I realise this is a free program, and one is reluctant to complain.

I dislike immensely the live Design Rule Check.

i.e. if I rotate a component on a PCB design, the message come up, Finishing here would result in Design Rule Check errors.  Finish here anyway?" I need to click on this message many, many times!

Every. Single. Time. this happens.  It needs a click to continue, then it leaves all that garbage errors on the screen, which don't mean anything, and don't point to an error anyway. I need to click on the message many, many times!

I have set the Spacing and Rules in the technology File to zero.  I would expect that it would be happy to have a spacing of zero, but no.

To get rid of the myriad of error notices, I have to run the Design Rule Check manually.  Apparently, it then believes my settings, and happily removes the garbage, and continues on.

I would like to disable the live Design Rule Check.  If there is a switch to turn t off, I cannot find it.

I'm grateful for the free program, but by jeez it's buggy!  Remove a track from a via, and the via retains the net that it was previously connected to.

You can add a Package to a Component, but you cannot delete a Package.

An edited Component does not always reflect in the design, when updated.

The Help File is nearly six years old, and does not describe the present program, and Screen shots can be nothing like the present.

Lots of little things.

My humble opinion is you have made it far too complicated, seeking to compete with Eagle and such.  I would imagine that if a user wanted to make four layer boards a foot square, then they would be unwise not to pay for a working program, whatever it may be.  It's a Marketing Tool, and there is nothing wrong with that idea either, and a few ads donlt bother me, but I do wish it would work better.

Still, thanks for it!  Autocad wants $15 a month minimum for Eagle, and that's far too much for a hobbyist such as myself.  And, I don't know if Eagle is any better!
