As someone who has been trying to learn the guitar over the last few years, I have often wondered how easy would it be to build a guitar from scratch?
Searching YouTube, it was great to come across Jim Taylor using DesignSpark Mechanical to show how he could turn a 2D drawing of the iconic 62 Fender Stratocaster into a 3D CAD design.
Jim has produced a cool 10 part tutorial to follow based on the 62 Strat. By the end of which you will have learned lots of key features around DesignSpark Mechanical, particularly how to use the Spline tool.
Here is Part 1, to get started
You can follow Jims YouTube Channel, where he takes us through parts 2-10. There are also lots of other exciting tutorials where he demonstrates the functionality of DesignSpark Mechanical, they are great learning guides to follow. In addition, there are lots of other cool engineering videos to view.
Jim, my dream guitar is the Gibson Limited Edition 1976 Explorer, however, there's next to no chance of getting one these days.
We'd love to find out what other cool designs have been done using DesignSpark Mechanical. For yours truly it was my recent Kitchen conversation, but I'm sure you guys can beat that.
