In this episode, we are joined by John Tuley from TE Connectivity to discuss the importance of condition monitoring within industrial plants. We ask where to start and why condition monitoring is key to Ind 4.0. Also, we take a look at solutions that TE Connectivity offer and what may lie ahead in terms of sensor development.
It's true that industrial sensing has certainly come a long way, in days gone by we may have relied on the trained ear of an experienced engineer, a rattle in drive, a low-level noise from a bearing and potential downtime avoided. Now however we can rely on data from sensors to identify issues much sooner and plan predictive maintenance in advance of any issue developing. With machine uptime and 24/7 operation becoming the norm, businesses need to ensure that their plants run efficiently and without disruption.
