How do I check my complex design geometry for errors?

This tutorial requires:

DesignSpark Mechanical V6.0

We’ve made it easier for users to easily find flaws in the geometry of solids & surfaces and then manually apply appropriate fixes.

The geometry is checked for all possible errors. Select errors and warnings in the dialog to highlight the associated geometry in the Design window (Workspace), as shown below.mceclip1_025db7768eb89208f5435d5cbf78d2bd0baedd75.png

To check an object's geometry

1. Right-click a solid or surface in the Structure tree.

2. Select Check Geometry.

Alternatively, you can select the solid or surface in the Design window and select Check Geometry in the Measure tab.

You can click Stop in the status bar or press Esc to cancel the operation if necessary.

A dialog will open that lists any errors or warnings found.

3. Select errors and warnings in the dialog to highlight the associated geometry in the Design window.

  • Select Zoom to fit selection to automatically zoom in to the problem area in the Design window.
  • Select Named Selection (NS) to create a Named Selection for the problem geometry.
  • Select Delete Face to delete problem faces.
  • Refresh to update the list of errors and warnings after applying a fix.

4. Click Close when you are finished.
