DesignSpark PCB V12This new DSPCB v12 feature available to all subscription levels provides an additional Manufacturing Outputs plots check.
The feature is permanently enabled and checks that a layer is only selected for inclusion in one output plot file. This is essential for the manufacturing step, at a minimum it will prevent your Gerber plots from being rejected by the manufacturer and saving time, or if not rejected it will prevent the PCBs being produced wasting time and money.
The warning message will appear as soon as you attempt to produce the plots, should you have a specific reason to include two or more layers in the plot file the warning can be ignored.
Most users familiar with DSPCB will never see this warning, but it’s good to know that this check is working in the background.
New users unfamiliar with the Manufacturing Outputs process often fall into the trap of confusing the Layers selection options with the output plots and this will prevent this specific error. The following video is ideal for new users explaining the basics of using the Manufacturing Outputs form, locating the plots containing the duplicate layers and providing an example where multiple layers in a plot is acceptable.
