UWE Formula Student Team - About Us

Our UWE Formula Student team is full of hard-working, motivated individuals from a range of academic disciplines who pride ourselves on the diversity we have within the team. With over 100 members our team make time alongside academic studies to collaborate ideas and innovate within a range of sub-teams from Ancillaries to Aero. We embrace an ever-learning mindset as a team and aim for members to teach one another new skills and develop a range of expertise.

We are proud to have competed in Formula Student Silverstone competition on an annual basis for the past 10 years, during which we progressed to Class one in 2014, ascending from 86th place to 6th place in 2021. We appreciate the belief RS Grass Roots has entrusted within our team, winning this prize has only pushed us to try harder!

At the moment our members are pushing to finish building this year’s new car in preparation for Silverstone’s competition and more exciting international competitions. Our Ancillaries team is working on installing the Dash whilst the Business team have been busy exploring more sustainable materials and environmentally friendly process in line with the United Nations sustainable development goals. We have an exciting new Aero package and are currently using a steel space frame but are moving towards an aluminium honeycomb chassis creating a car design lighter than ever!

Looking upon the business side of things we have a much more established team of great talents all with their own competencies. Our social media presence has noticeably increased with new innovations: there is a greater emphasis on our team colours which can be seen throughout our Instagram page giving it a more professional look. This also increases the level of engagement we have, and thanks to our amazing sponsors including RS Components we are able to further develop our team and keep to a high standard.

The current groundwork and foundation we have in place with the team shall allow us to compete at an effective level and create better opportunities for us within the near future. Each and every member should be proud of our progress so far this year and we're excited for you to see more of us.UWE Team photo
