There's More to Wearables than Fitbits and Watches: Top 6

When I first started researching wearables, all I could find were smart watches and fitness trackers. I began to think that was the extent of what wearables had to offer... But after delving a little deeper into what start-up companies were up to on the funding platform Kickstarter, I found there's a lot more going on in the Wearable industry than I first thought.

Here's my Top 6 New Wearable Technology ideas:

#1: Waterfi Swimcast

You can now stream music underwater using the Waterfi Swimcast.

A completely waterproof device that can stream music using hotspot or via a wifi connection. After connecting the device to your phone you can play music through Spotify and all other popular music apps whilst swimming.

#2: Polar Seal: Self Heating Winter Clothes

This company has been very busy creating clothing with temperature control, to ensure you stay warm in cold climates. I know many people who would love this.

Using thin and light heating elements (pictured below) and rechargeable batteries that can hold 8 hours of charge.

It really feels like this company have thought of everything. Their products have so many features:

  • 3 heating levels
  • Compatible with any battery pack with a USB port
  • Water resistant and shock proof buttons
  • Buttons can be used when wearing gloves

#3: Solamigo

Solamigo is the worlds first thin film solar & anti-theft backpack.

It's a backpack that can charge your devices, stops pickpocketing, keeps your keys easily accessible with its key leash and with over 10 pockets and compartments it's impossible not to stay organised!

#4: CrossHelmet

A smart motorcycle helmet with a rear-view camera, touch operation, sound control and group talk functionality; this is the smartest helmet out there.

Ride data such as weather, compass direction and journey information is easily accessible. Stats like battery level and distance and time to destination are shown on the heads up display as well as the rear-view camera footage.

#5: FOCI

A wearable created to boost your focus.

By monitoring your breathing patterns with this practically weightless device, you can gain insight into your mind state and track it throughout your day. The AI Mind Coach can use this information to pick out mistakes you made and gives advice on how to boost your focus.

The little device can even 'nudge' you by vibrating, reminding you to refocus.

Foci could become an essential desk job accessory!

#6: KYON

Wearables don't have to be only for humans! This ingenious collar not only uses GPS tracking to ensure you never lose your furry friend but also displays contact info with it's LED screen. It can help protect your furry friend from harm and also has the ability to stop your dog barking and even calm it, stopping it from fighting with other dogs.39bdda80a879669752fd22bb7d2e86af_original_a68a821a97f4e9f78d5d241327b851ac1f702617.png

The Kyon Collar is definitely something I'd consider buying when I get a dog!
