The Arduino design challenge

Now closed

Winner announced

WIN £1000 of RS Products

How self-limiting we humans can be is apparent when it comes to how we determine our senses. From our first school days, we are taught that humans have only five senses. Most of us can name these off the top as; sound, smell, vision, touch and taste. We even say that people who have a sixth sense are in touch with the spiritual world, (spoiler alert; he's a ghost BTW), well then, would you be surprised to know that we all have a sixth sense, even a seventh, eighth, ninth (keep going) sense.

Close your eyes and touch the tip of your nose, guess what this is another sense you have, it's called Proprioception, then there is a sense of Balance and also Acceleration not to mention Time. Five senses indeed, we need to revisit that five senses mantra.

So what has this got to do with our Arduino design challenge? Well, we are looking for some really cool ways in which you can have interaction with the physical world through the use of Arduino and sensors. There are endless application possibilities to consider, so with this in mind, we throw open our challenge to the DesignSpark community.

Arduino and the senses design challenge

1) Your design should contain an Arduino board and at least one sensor which either measures or reacts to something in the physical world. Other than this, there are no product restrictions in place.

2) Your project should be your own design, complete with a detailed overview of its purpose and the build process, please include any coding used, design files and list of products.

3) Include a video of the design in operation.
