When designing with RF, there are many barriers that can get in the way of completing a final product. Below, are solutions to a few popular applications to make light work of the design task.
Application 1: Adding Keyfob Remote Control to your product
The newly launched FOBOEM, is an easy “bolt on” Remote control feature for any application, with a range of up to 150m. This is a waterproof (IP68), 4-button key fob and a DIP RF module.
When the user presses the key fob button, the receiver provides a direct digital switched output as well as a serial data output. The RF receiver module requires only a power connection to operate, and provides features including an easy learn feature of up to 30 key fobs; as well as momentary or latching outputs.
The keyfob comes in various colours and can easily be customised to provide a bespoke OEM product.
This is also compatible with other handsets, RF Solutions TRAP (medium sized rugged) handset or SABRE (a rugged IP68 industrial) handset, the range can be increased up to 2000m, for longer range applications. Search SABRE at RS Components to view this range.

Application 2: Remote Telemetry
We see many applications requiring remote Telemetry. Whether it be the signalling traffic lights at the Top Gear Test Track, to controlling the LED intensity on Matt Damon’s Spacesuit in The Martian.
Our remote switching/telemetry modules provide a quick and simple, wireless switching solution. Two or more modules can be combined to provide a simple or complex network of remote switching.

Application 3: Serial Comms
Sending Serial data has come a long way in the last few years. Radio modules are now “Smart” with built-in encoding, packetizing and buffering, providing a true serial SPI, USB, UAURT, RS232 interface meaning they are a true plug-in serial comms component.
The ZETAPLUS makes a radio data link easy. It works out of the box with no configuration and has a choice of a simple interface using either SPI or UART (LV RS232). With a connection to power, comms, and antenna, the user can start sending and receiving data immediately. No other external components are required. With a highly tuned on-board RF matching network ZETAPLUS out performs other modules achieving range far in excess of its competitors for the given power output/power consumption.
ZULU2 is a MODEM in a module, with user control of frequency band, power output, channel, addressable or secure protocol, host interface. Providing 2km range to replace a serial data cable.
