This feels simple, so perhaps I am doing something wrong. Start by drawing a rectangle. Then add a hexagon in the top left. Then use Move with Create Pattern to generate the large hexagons across the top. Then use Move with Create Pattern again to add the hexagons downwards. Then draw the small hexagon in the top left and again, use Move with Create Pattern twice to generate all the smaller hexagons. So far so good.
Then click to change to 3D mode and click outside of the hexagons. As expected the drawing changes as per the attachment. Then use the Pull Tool to make the surface into a solid. This is when it all goes wrong.
The application shows as "not responding" and the screen freezes. Windows task manager shows that the process is using ~860MB of memory and 5.9% of the processor - so it is not working very hard. Eventually, believe it or not, after eight or more hours, the application bursts back into life, allowing me to type in the dimension that I want for the pull.
Once that has been completed, other operations (such as pulling the edge) work perfectly normally. So it definitely seems to be something to do with the specific sequence of actions and/or the way I have drawn things. It is repeatable at will.
Thanks for any thoughts, ideas or guidance!
