Creating a new component

radiotest

Hi there,

Need a bit of a help and maybe clarification. I am new at the PCB CAD, so this may be something obvious...but....need some help.

I installed the DesignSpark PCB soft, enabled the ...DesignSpark PCB 8.1\Library and ...DesignSpark PCB8.1\Library\Default libraries, so far so good.

Now, I would like to modify a component to (footprint) to fit my one, and this way to create a custom component.

I am taking about a DPDT relay.  I can see under the component tab the  Relay type 53, that is exactly what I need as an electrical representation. the footprint has to be changed though.

Under the PCB symbol tab I can find the above type under ...\Library\relay.

But when I look under the Schematic symbol tab, to get the electrical representation of this relay type 53, to be able to place it in my schematic and make the appropriate connections, I can not find it!!

From what I undestand, reading the HELP files, to be able to create a component in the Library Manager, you have to have the symbol represenation and the footprint representation. I can see them both under the Component tab, I can see the footprint under the PCB Symbol tab, but I can not see the electrical representation of this DPDT relay under the Schematic symbol tab...!

So, if the Component is in the proper library, (with both schematic and footprint) and if the footprint is in the proper library, shouldn't also the schematic symbol of the relay be in the library?

Any help will be appreciated, maybe I am not looking in the right place for this DPDT relay?

Thanks, George
