@Univit there is still a free version of DesignSpark Electrical, but it has changed for the reasons outlined below. Thank you for responding to the release of DesignSpark Electrical version 2.0, we know there are some big changes here, and we do appreciate you taking time to tell us how they impact you. What we want to do now is share some more of the details behind these changes with you. DesignSpark had previously entered into a unique agreement with a 3rd party vendor to offer the Electrical design package, DSE. This was offered free of charge from DesignSpark with an option to purchase additional features directly from Trace Software. The supplier of this software terminated the contractual agreement with DesignSpark and the supply of DSE. The consequence was that DesignSpark would no longer have the rights to offer this package. The software IP was acquired by SolidWorks and we immediately entered into a discussion to maintain continuity and support. SolidWorks was highly receptive to a free of charge package and an upgrade pathway to support the developing journey of engineers. What we have tried to maintain is a balance between free and paid-for that provides free users with capabilities comparable with any other free tool, while respecting some of the additional features that would traditionally be expected in a paid-for tool. Working with SolidWorks, we have put together an offer that continues to provide a free-of-charge DesignSpark Electrical, alongside an upgrade pathway to paid-for SolidWorks packages at a substantially discounted price. Available to all existing DSE users, the process to claim your discount and purchase from SolidWorks is simple, with details on the DesignSpark website: It’s clear from some of the early feedback that this is an unwelcome change for some. We will be discussing your feedback with SolidWorks, however, what we would ask is that you review the upgrade path discount to see if it is for you. For additional answers, feature comparisons, etc. can be found on our support pages:

@leonie well i can honestly say you have take a great product and made it terrible, as a lot of my drawings are more than 3 pages now i cannot open them and drawings i did last week for a project i am currently working on no longer working, so now i cannot complete my projects and from comments here Solidworks electrical will be beyond my reach, why cannot some one make an electrical cad package that is good for a small business that only uses CAD occasionally.....

Hi there,

We can assure you the discounts are significant compared to their list prices! More details on the upgrade capabilities and webinars will follow the DSE v2.0 launch.
While we cannot publicly reveal exact prices, here's a way to enquire about the special offer as a DesignSpark Electrical user:

Send an e-mail to mentioning you are a DesignSpark Electrical user, your DesignSpark registered username and which country you are located in. Also indicate your preference of standard or professional version, if you'd like. SOLIDWORKS® will quickly verify your discount eligibility and help you with next steps (prices, order placement, etc.).

Best regards,
The DesignSpark team

@paulmwardlow Did you email Solidworks directly? Could you let me know when you sent it, please? Obviously, because of GDPR, we can't provide your email address to them, but we'll certainly chase them up if you've already contacted them.

and what will be the price of the discounted soild works package. beacuse I have enquired about the base solid works package and came back at $7000 aud

@sweac I've found listprices from a Distributor here in GER around 4000€ for the Standart and 6000€ for the Prfoessional Version. So I don't think that it is very affordable, even with the Discount.
