(6) Learn how students are changing the world one project at a time

"Learn how students are changing the world one project at a time" is a 9-part series from a group of Hong Kong students who are using innovative engineering to improve their community and ultimately the world. Take a look at what these students have created.

MyFeeder

Pets are popular in Hong Kong. Most owners do not have enough time to take care of them. This project aims to develop a feeding system for pets. The feeder with a LED display can periodically show food to the pets and let their owners know, through the LED display, whether the food inside the bowl has become empty (see Figure 6-1). The feeding system is controlled by a microcontroller and the period of time is counted by a real time clock.

Figure 6-1: Prototype

Up to now the design and the implementation of the real time clock with the servos has finished (see Figure 6-2 and 6-3). Now the team needs to integrate these together with the LED monitor, the buttons and the box.
