Marking in Automation: A Small Detail with Big Impact

by GreigRS

When it comes to safety in industrial automation, most people think of safety products such as E-Stops, Grab Wires, Circuit Protection, and Laser Sensors. However, there is another aspect that should also be considered: Clear and Robust Marking.

Often overlooked, but worthwhile to consider upfront and save on future issues with safety and maintenance. Clear marking will prevent wiring errors, reducing the risk of future wiring mistakes that could lead to short circuits, equipment damage and potentially fire hazards. With clear system marking, maintenance can be carried out without guesswork, reducing response times and utilising uptime and profit. Additionally, marking is key to ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Here we speak with Clive Humphrey from WAGO and discuss why marking should be the first consideration for industrial automation.
