Tomorrow (21st February 2019) is Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. As a girl in the engineering world myself, I want to give a huge shout out to some of our DesignSpark girls!
If you’re looking for some inspiration, check out some amazingly positive role models who are your DesignSpark peers.
Ruth Amos

Our lovely Ruth won an Electronics Weekly BrightSparks award in 2018 and, amongst other things, is a YouTube sensation with her channel Kids Invent Stuff. Ruth recently appeared on BBC’s The One Show with her Rude Goldberg challenge.
Dr Lucy Rogers

The amazing Dr Lucy featured as a Judge on the popular TV series Robot Wars in the UK. Lucy is, of course, one of the shining stars of our own DesignSpark Podcast and will be recording the second series next month! She also founded The Guild of Makers and is a regular DesignSpark blogger – thanks Lucy, keep on sharing!

Our fabulous artist-in-residence, Nye, is an artist who literally turned taking things apart into an art form! We attended the amazing ‘humansbeingdigital’ exhibition at The Lowry, showcasing her Backdoored project, focusing on the vulnerabilities of the IoT. More from Nye is coming soon, so make sure to follow her on DesignSpark.
Chelsea Back
Chelsea Back starring in Engineer of Tomorrow
Our Chelsea is an absolute superstar who featured as RS’s ‘Engineer of Tomorrow’ in 2016, was one of only two girls to win a BrightSparks award in 2017 and has been sharing her projects and diaries of a trainee electronics engineer for over five years – go, Chelsea!
