How to keep a rectangle centered over a reference point when changing dimensions?

I am sure there is an easy way but I have yet to find it.  I pick a point in the center of my plan view in sketch mode.   I select Rectangle and check define a rectangle from center and start drawing a rectangle. After making a rectangle I put in the dimensions I want of the rectangle and depending on where I stopped my drawing, the dimensions will effect the position of the rectangle.  It ends up NOT centered around my original center point.  Can someove tell me the correct procedure so my rectangle ends up centered around the middle point?  Thanks.

Click to place the center point. Start to drag. DO NOT click the end point.
Instead. Click to place the center point. Start to drag. Type in first measurement, Tab. Type in second measurement. Enter.
