How do I use the component bin sort and filter options?

This tutorial requires:

DesignSpark PCB V12

This new option available to the Engineer subscription provides simple selection and sorting tools for the component bin. The key benefit is you can now filter and select components as you require for efficient placement and subsequent routing on the PCB editor.

The full set of options is as shown, the lower four will only be shown if a component is selected and the option is appropriate for that component.

Options for simple selection and sorting tools

Select Browse… is very useful as shown in the video, allowing you to select components that have the same feature, such as a common net connection.

Select Component Bin Items

The options extend to the Net Class, Component Name and Value, providing flexibility.

Sort and Filter, again illustrated in the video, allow you to sort the displayed components in the Component Bin in a specific order again providing versatility for efficient selection.

Sort and Filter Component Bin

Applying the ‘Filter’ option further refines the Component Bin listing as shown using the ‘PINHD’ to list just this type of component.

Apply Filter

The application of these features is illustrated in the video.
