[NEED HELP] Linear solenoid lock application

DanialS

Hi. It's my first time plan to use linear solenoid.

I plan to use for verticle lock application. when energize solenoid pulls in, de-energize spring return home which will extend solenoid fully.

Based on RS specs, squared housing have more pull force than tabular.

my concern are:

1. is it good to hold current for along time to pull in linear solenoid? (for my application: keep unlock always energize)

2. is it good to use only half stroke of the solenoid? or better design to always pulls fully

3. some of RS linear solenoid does'nt have power (watt) for specific product but got same power-force graph. how to diffrenciate the variance?

thanks

dan
