Export for CNC

Stuck in the shed

I am just starting on the CNC journey with building, under some guidance, a small mill.

The capability will have 3 axes so am looking to do 3-D drawings with mulitple components.

I'm reasonably familiar with doing this the traditional way - on paper - or with tools such as visio; but this is the first foray into CAD.

So, what do I need to know to get started - assuming I can convert these drawings into suitable files to drive the mill?  I thought part 1 would be to redraw the mill design. It has lots of straight lines and a few holes in multiple parts for assembly.
