Exploring Capacitive Touch Sensor ApplicationsFollow article
The ON Semiconductor LC717A00A devices are high-performance low-cost capacitance to digital converters for electrostatic capacitive touch sensor designs. These can be used in conventional touch switching applications but are also being used for different types of sensing including liquid and liquid level detection.
These capacitive touch sensors are now being used in different applications where they can perform more complex detection operations and give reliable liquid level information. Application areas include automotive for use with fuel, water and oil level monitoring together with many other industrial areas.
The following video shows how these devices function in liquid level detection applications.
The full range of standard switching applications have always been widely used in numerous products and applications where the benefits of touch switching are required. With the calibration function and the ON/OFF judgement being automatically performed in the internal LSI, development time is kept to a minimum.
Application areas include Home appliances, PC peripherals, Automotive and many more. Key applications include areas where multiple switch functions are required and where the function can be performed through a panel on the equipment. These allow operation without compromising the integrity of the panel by drilling holes for mounting conventional switch components.
This video covers various uses in both the home and commercial areas.
