DesignSpark Toolbox updateFollow article
We have spent the last few months working on providing you with an update to the DesignSpark Toolbox app across all versions; iOS, Android and Windows.
If you already have this handy app installed then go to your app and update to the latest version. If you are a new user then click here to install.

So what have we added in this new version?
Under the Make section, we have now included a link to our Reference Designs.
In the community section, we have loaded additional content for you to access all in one handy section.
Check out the additional content that we have added; Wireless, Sensors, LED Lightning, Connectors and Microcontrollers
Also, under the Community section, we have added an Events area that will highlight the main events that DesignSpark will be attending. You can add or remove them from your own calendar so that you don’t miss any important events coming up where DesignSpark will be.
In this version, we have also added in some additional items under the Tools section specifically around Arduino and Beaglebone so you can find out details on all of the available boards, and you can also see board specifications, pinouts and associated documentation.
In addition to these, we have also added in two new calculator tools, PCB Resistance and PCB Impedance.
The PCB Resistance tool calculates the resistance of a copper trace based upon its physical dimensions. The trace resistance is not only helpful if a circuit requires precise resistor values. It also helps to determine the total power dissipation of a circuit. The calculations of the tool are based on the charts in IPC-2221.
The PCB Impedance tool calculates the impedance of a copper trace based upon its physical dimensions and its type. The impedance can be calculated for several different transmission lines. The calculations of the tool are based on the charts in IPC-2221. The formulas can also be found in IPC-2141A.
If you are based in China, Japan, Germany and France links from the DesignSpark & Make section has been fixed to take you to correct language version based upon your settings. Ensure that under settings the Language is set to one of those mentioned previously. For all other language variants, these links will direct you to the English version of the DesignSpark site.
We are already working on the next version that is destined for release later this year and if you have any suggestions on what you would like to see then please add a comment below.
