Can I connect 10 miniature speakers to a single source?

Hi everyone,

I am a visual artist and I am working on a sound piece. I would like to know if I can connect 10 miniature speakers to a mp3 source, joining all the cables from the speakers into 1, and then connecting it to the mp3 and what I would need to buy to do so.

Thank you very much in advance

Hi Boss,
Thank you very much for you response. It helped me a lot. Sorry for being late in my reply. Just saw the message. The develoment of the piece has changed a little bit. The reason is to make it simple and without much equipment. So, If I buy an amplifier that has 5 channels or 12 channels I can connect 5 or 12 speakers and then to a Music source (mp3)?? I would like to explain you more about the project. Maybe we can have a chat (email-phone)??. Thank you very much for your help! take care

Hi Daniel, I'm not sure there is a definitive answer to this. Yes, you can connect speakers in series or parallel or a combination with the aim of matching the impedance load the existing single speaker has. But what is the aim? You are unlikely to generate a louder sound, but you will produce a more distributed sound but also quieter at each speaker than from the current single speaker.
The sound quality may also vary.
Ideally, each speaker would be driven from its own amplifier which from my understanding will provide the best audio quality.
What is the main requirement for driving multiple speakers?
