When the going gets tough Infineon and RS get Commercial, Construction, Hybrid, and Agricultural Vehicle designs going efficiently and safely.

While Automotive has recently become the new focus for several semiconductor manufacturers, none can match the pedigree, experience, or portfolio of Infineon, with their No 1 position in automotive & power semiconductors, backed by 40 years of experience and PRO-SIL™ program.

PRO-SIL™ goes beyond the industry standard Automotive Safety Integrity level (ASIL) covering products which contain SIL supporting features in hardware and software as well as development process and user documentation.

The problem for automotive, Industrial, and mechatronic, designers today is not to determine the baseline microcontroller or IDE for his new project, but to ensure that they can find a portfolio of products, meeting the required quality and safety standards, but also the full end to end functional needs of their project. In these respects Infineon are World class, which is why RS have invested in bringing these products to its Global online customer base, and the DesignSpark community.

Beyond the regular automotive portfolio covered in their “automotive applications” brochure which highlights over 40 vehicle applications and features on DesignSpark, Infineon also provide an extensive range of heavy duty products supporting commercial, construction, hybrid, and agricultural vehicles. Which are outlined in two other brochures.

These brochures cover the electrification of applications which have been traditionally powered by fossil fuels, or controlled and facilitated using pneumatics, or hydraulics. Based on the Global environmental and taxation drives for increased fuel and cost efficiency, manufacturers are reacting with techniques for electronic and electric traction and auxiliary components, regenerative braking etc. to meet increasingly complex customer needs.

CCHA vehicles present unique challenges, including 24V DC Body applications from LED lighting, CAN and LIN networks, HVAC, or even seat, hydraulic and pneumatic valve controllers. Infineon react to this challenge with a comprehensive portfolio offering everything from sensors, to protected switching FETs (PROFET & HITFET), and their AURIX Tri-core 32 bit lockstep microcontrollers (lowest cost evaluation platform “Shieldbuddy” RS Stock No. (124-5257) , plus power MOSFETs (Optimos), plus (NovalithIC) Power half bridges, as well as IBGT ECONO modules and EICEdrivers.

For ARM fans requiring advanced products in both the automotive and industrial space, Infineon also offer the ARM M0 (XMC1000) and ARM M4 (XMC4000) series processors which include
XMC4300 and MXC4800 with integrated ETHERCAT, and XMC4700 CAN bus version.

For Hybrid vehicles, applications in the brochure include powertrain and auxiliary Inverters, dc/dc converters, battery management, and on board charger. So as the market leader in Automotive power electronics, you can be assured they are offering no just leading safety and quality, but broadest portfolio of products that also provide the highest power density and efficiency.

Download the brochures and search RS online to help resolve your product design and build needs, and keep your project trucking on, or ploughing on, or charging on.
