Siemens has started the phase out of their 3TK28 safety relays

Since January 2015 when Siemens first announced the launch of SIRIUS 3SK to replace its popular SIRIUS 3TK28 safety relays, many customers have already changed over to the latest generation. Now Siemens has announced that from October 2018, it will no longer be possible to order 3TK28 (with one exception which is the SIRIUS 3TK2810 for stand still and speed monitors). Beside this, there are a lot of other reasons why customers should start to design-in the new generation 3SK safety relays.

This article is to provide the most important information for those who want to change over to SIRIUS 3SK, but also for those who are planning a new project and are looking to find the right safety relay to design in.

The first helpful tool, and probably the most complete one I found, is a very nice web feature that allows users to explore all benefits of SIRIUS 3SK in an interactive way. Click here to try it out.

Also, check out this helpful video that shows how easy it is to parameterize the new SIRIUS 3SK series of safety relays.

Another helpful asset I found is a conversion tool developed by Siemens that allows customers to identify which is the best replacement for their currently used safety relay. Just type in the part number of your device to get a recommendation for a suitable replacement from their latest generation.

For those who want to keep their SIRIUS 3TK28 as long as possible, RS will still hold stock until the end of the supply period.

In parallel, RS is offering the SIRIUS 3SK safety relays for those who are ready to migrate or develop a new application.
