RS Components, Cypress, and Zerynth collaborate to showcase Python running on Cypress’ PSoC® 6 Microcontrollers and Wi-Fi.
At Embedded World (EW) 2019 RS-Components, Cypress, and Zerynth come together to introduce an innovative prototyping platform for emerging applications requiring IoT connectivity as well as secure BlockChain capabilities. The first phase of this platform is a demo developed for the show that is described below.
The key elements of the demo are two cloud dashboards. One will be located at the Cypress stand at EW and one at the RS Components stand. Both dashboards will be showing temperature and humidity readings that the PSoC 6 WiFi-BT Pioneer Kit (175-4669) is reading.
This kit features Cypress’ ultra-low-power, flexible, and secure PSoC 6 MCU. PSoC 6 acts as the host MCU for a certified module based on one of Cypress’ industry-leading wireless combo solutions providing 802.11n Wi-Fi and dual-mode Bluetooth. The boards are programmed in Python by Zerynth. Zerynth offers an IoT development environment, which simplifies development by providing an easy and efficient way to program the 32-bit microcontrollers in Python or hybrid C/Python and connect them to the top Cloud infrastructures.
On each PSoC 6 Pioneer Kit, there is a CapSense® (capacitive sensing) button which serves a special purpose. Pressing it will trigger a blockchain transaction, to store temperature and humidity information. Users can scan a QR code on the dashboard that leads to all the technical details of the blockchain transactions. The code leads to the following URL: https://ropsten.etherscan.io/address/0x66b4f2b7f5f2b8f6facbfcc9336218dff08e07f5.
With this platform, customers can see how easy Zerynth and Cypress make it for all users to connect MCUs to the Cloud and secure the information with blockchain.
The PSoC 6 WiFi-BT Pioneer Kit (175-4669) can be purchased from RS Components, along with PSoC 6 silicon. The Zerynth IoT development environment is also available for free download from a unique portal on the DesignSpark website. More details can also be found at www.zerynth.com
Stay tuned for more to come from RS, Cypress, and Zerynth!
