Lighting - discussing the halogen ban, smart lighting and managing a range of 5000 products

We wanted to discover a little bit more about the lighting range at RS Components, so where better to start than an interview with Sam McDonald who looks after the lighting range on offer at RS.

There are a number of things happening within the industry at the moment, for example, from September 1st 2018 no new non-directional Halogen lamps will enter the supply chain. You can still purchase the remaining stock on offer, but considering that they consume 5 times the energy compared to LED's, it really is time to start thinking about efficient energy use. As reported here on the BBC today, scientists are telling us it's the final call to save the world from a climate catastrophe.

You can read more on the Halogen ban in Sam's previous article here.

Also, as the move to smart lighting is gathering pace, this too is leading the expansion in the use of LED lighting. Sam explains in the video below how smart lighting in future can be used for more than just simply lighting, but also for things such as asset management. Finally, we discover how the RS Pro range plays a significant part of Sam's offer to customers.
