Until now, DC fan motor power supply blocks mounted in refrigerators were mainly configured using discrete components, making it difficult to accurately control the motor rotational speed since no output voltage linearity exists with respect to the pulse duty input to the PWM terminal. ROHM’s BD9227F power supply IC, however, makes it possible to control the DC fan motor speed with high accuracy.
Improving motor speed accuracy
Providing linear control of the output voltage based on duty enables high accuracy control of the rotational speed of DC fan motors.
Achieves high efficiency across the entire load range
Higher power conversion efficiency vs discrete solutions is achieved in all bands. This difference becomes even more pronounced at higher loads.
Reduces component mounting area
Discrete solutions do not support high-frequency drive. Consequently, larger peripheral components such as coils and output capacitors are required, significantly increasing footprint. In contrast, the BD9227F features internal frequency control that enables high-frequency drive, making it possible to reduce the mounting area by enabling the use of smaller components.
