In 400V/AC industrial equipment, there is always a demand for high voltage compatibility in a compact, power-saving form factor. ROHM has developed the BM2SCQ12xT-LBZ AC/DC converter IC with built-in 1700V SiC MOSFET to meet these requirements.
BM2SCQ12xT-LBZ Features
Feature 1: Smaller Size
A control circuit optimized for auxiliary power supplies for industrial equipment (i.e. SiC MOSFET gate drive circuits) is built in, together with a 1700V SiC MOSFET. This dramatically reduces the number of components required vs conventional solutions that adopt standard Si MOSFETs.
Feature 2: Higher reliability
The monolithic design reduces the man-hours required for component selection and reliability evaluation for the clamp and drive circuits, while also minimizing the risk of component failure. In addition to thermal shutdown, the BM2SCQ12xT-LBZ is equipped with multiple protection circuits required for industrial power supplies (i.e. overload/over voltage protection), contributing to increased reliability.
Feature 3: Power Saving
The gate driver circuit optimized for SiC MOSFETs improves efficiency by as much as 5% compared to conventional Si MOSFETs (ROHM study).
