It’s nearly Christmas, and, it’s nearly the release date of the next Star Wars movie, Rogue One, the latest in the new series of movies that first hit our cinema screens last December. Rogue One is planned to be the first in theStar Wars Anthologyseries with more films to follow. It isn’t a sequel to The Force Awakens, these are one-off movies focusing on characters like Han Solo and Boba Fett, great stuff. Episode VIII of the Star Wars movies, the sequel to The Force Awakens is in production at the moment, Luke Skywalker makes a welcome return to our screens in that and it’s scheduled release is in December 2017. I sense another Xmas decoration design will be awakening in the force for 2017, anyway, back to the present!
Xmas Pie Fighter
Last year, we at DesignSpark came up with the Xmas Pie Fighter, a fun little decoration to 3D print yourself using the STL file we created, paint if you felt the urge, and hang on your Xmas tree. Well, this year, we thought, why not try again, with the good old Star Wars theme tied in!
Enter BB-8, (Bright Bauble-8)
BB-8…if you don’t know is the cute little droid who featured in the Star Wars movie released in December last year (2015), The Force Awakens. BB-8, as luck would have it, is a really simple design that could be mistaken for a bauble, so, we thought, why not turn him into a Xmas tree decoration! So fire up your 3D printer, grab some fancy festive looking paint, buy some glitter and see what you can come up with.
And just in case you never saw the last Star Wars movie...
Our 3D printing hub is jammed to the rafters at the moment printing a fairly large project destined to take several days, so we are currently in a queue waiting to print our own Xmas BB-8. If you beat us to it, please post a pic in the comments section. Hopefully, we will get a chance to showcase our effort before the DesignSpark doors are closed for Xmas!
Download our STL files and print yourself a fun Xmas bauble!
