DesignSpark PCB - Copper Pour Basics Part 1

We noticed that we have quite a few questions from our users regarding the proper way of using the ‘Copper Pour’ function within the DesignSpark PCB software.

Take a look at the video below to see exactly how to use Copper Pour (also known as Copper Polygons), a very useful and widely used basic functionality of every good PCB design software.

You can use it to create a solid area on a PCB layer to lower your power tracks impedance, increase maximum current, use it as a heat sink or RF shield. You can also use it to create solid ground or power plane on multilayer board design. Those are just a few examples of why Copper Pour can be useful.

I joined RS Components in January 2016, and have over 10 years experience as an Electronics Design Engineer. I am working to develop and improve DesignSpark PCB as well as other electronics design tools we are offering, so that we can continue to offer engineers all around the world a powerful fully featured solution for creating their schematics and PCBs.
