The secret to precise cable tie tensioning

Cable ties are so ubiquitous that we only notice them if we snag ourselves on a sharp end. That shouldn't occur if you use a professional tool to tension and cut the tail off flush behind the head.

EVO7 cable tie gun: ideal for low tension bundling

Installers tying thousands of ties every week also rely on the same tool to apply ties with precise tension. But when you compare the different manual cable tie guns on the market though, you soon discover they vary a lot. And not only from an ergonomic and material quality standpoint. The tension performance can also make a big difference.

Selecting a manual cable tie gun is a bit like choosing a tennis racket
How does it feel when you pick it up? Is it well-balanced? Is the grip span comfortable? Will it be too heavy after a hundred repetitions? Are all the parts built to last? Does it withstand the impact of a fall? Does it jar the hand and wrist? Is the tension fully adjustable?

Comfort, reliability, performance: At 275g, the EVO7 is one of the lightest professional cable tie guns available. Yet it's robust enough to survive the most demanding workshop conditions. In endurance tests, it tensions precisely and cuts smoothly more than a million times before needing a service. That's a whole lot more cable tying than similar-looking tools. These fail the same continuous performance test before even half that quantity is clocked! And should it need attention, the EVO7 is in a league of its own when it comes to serviceability and spare parts.

So where’s the secret?
The secret of the EVO7 lies in the robust and reliable tension, lock and cut (TLC) mechanism. This not only inhibits the recoil when cutting the band. It makes it possible to deliver the broadest tension range available for plastic cable ties up to 4.8mm in width.

Factory calibrated between 20 N to 165 N, the EVO7 provides a lower tension force than most other manual cable ties guns, which start at around 50 N. Such overtightening can result in unnecessary damage to sensitive bundles.

The EVO7 can also be re-calibrated and the preassigned tension settings on the dial adjusted individually. The zero setting can be set lower than 20 N if required. This is ideal for repetitive binding quality around sensitive electronics wiring. Couple that with the exceptional build quality, plus two hand span sizes, and you have a featherweight champion fighting your corner.
