Shining Light on Solar Cells - by Christopher Tan

Solar cells convert sunlight into electricity. Since sunlight is practically free, we practically have free energy. More importantly, using solar cells to convert sunlight into electricity prevents burning coal to generate electricity, in which during the process it emits carbon dioxide, which is the leading cause of climate change.

Hence, there is a clear need to research and improve on solar cells. I created this video series hoping to raise promote solar cells to the world. It is perfect for those of you who are an undergraduate student seeking for a crash course. The series is introductory but it almost covers a bit of everything, including the history, physics, types, processing, applications, business, and research areas.

For those of you who already know the basics of solar cells (or if you know what minority carrier lifetime is), I recommend start watching from Chapter 8 onwards.
