Newbie question. My original design used thru-hole components which was great for prototype build and test. Now moving toward production, I want to switch the project to SMD components. The design is fairly complex. Some components have both SMD and and thru-hole package options which makes it semi-easy. But many do not. Is there a relatively easy way to add a new package option with SMD to a thru-hole only component? Or better yet, just replace a component with an electrically equivalent other component? Deleting thru-hole and reconnecting equivalent new SMD components is hugely time intensive and very likely to lead to unintended errors.
Any recommendations/suggestions are sincerely appreciated.
