3D Printing - Checking out the RS PRO iTX PC 3D Printer

In this product overview, we are looking at the latest 3D printer from RS Pro, the iTX PC 3D printer (173-4711) .

We managed to catch up with Faye Harry who is the Engineer responsible for road testing all of the 3D printers in the RS range. DesignSpark has heard great things about this printer so we were keen to find out more.

Obviously, the great thing about 3D printing is the ability to cut development time down and to get prototypes and proof of concepts up and running quickly. Often the first level of gaining buy-in for a product or project is providing backers with a tangible visualisation and working prototype. In the highly competitive world of product design, the quickness of thought, taking an idea from a concept to product is critical for success.

Many design houses will take ideas from a concept to prototype in a matter of hours, having the ability to do the same is now achievable for most individuals. With a good quality 3D printer and free to use design software such as DesignSpark Mechanical, users can deliver prototype after prototype time and time again. Modifications can be made in the software with updates printed in a matter of minutes. This is great for those that are creating commercial products but let's not forget how much fun 3D printing can be, go to any Maker Faire, Hackspace or FabLab and you'll see what we mean.

With this in mind, DesignSpark will be launching a competition in the next few days to win a 3D printer bundle. It's ideal for getting you started or simply an opportunity to add an additional printer to your current set up. Details to follow soon here.

Just a quick heads up, whilst talking 3D printers with Faye, we know there are few more gems for RS PRO coming soon. So stay tuned.
